Bio

Veronica Mackey is an author, journalist, copywriter and serial entrepreneur.  A graduate of UCLA, Veronica began her writing career as a reporter for NOMMO, UCLA’s African American student newspaper.  She later worked as a freelancer for the Los Angeles Sentinel and Los Angeles Wave, while moonlighting as a writer for Patricia Roper-Sanders, a public relations professional and mentor who handled all media and community projects for the Watts Health Foundation.

Years later, Veronica landed a staff position for Inglewood Today News, where she was promoted to Managing Editor.  She worked at Inglewood Today while simultaneously assisting Ms. Sanders with her nonprofit for prostate cancer awareness, called 50 Hoops.  There, Ms. Mackey became the National Media Director, in charge of coordinating media interviews, writing press releases, PSAs and other materials, securing speakers for various health events, and acting as the company spokesperson in Southern California.

While at Inglewood Today and 50 Hoops, Veronica launched her own copywriting business, which she continues to enjoy today.  Her clients include authors, publishers, health product companies, nonprofits, and business advisors. She resigned from her prior employment to pursue her own business fulltime. In addition to copywriting, Veronica runs a meetings and events company designed to connect entrepreneurs with investors and other funders.  She is the creator of Perfect Pitch, a start-up pitch competition.

Veronica is the author of 30 Days in September:  How to Master Life’s Tests, a guide to intentional living.  She is an L.A. native and mother of 2 adult daughters.
